Picturehouse Education and The Gate present Science Week 2012, a season of films exploring the wonders of science especially for primary school audiences. This year we look at space robots with WALL-E and come face to face with prehistoric reptiles in FLYING MONSTERS 3D! The screenings will be supplemented with teaching resource packs and pre-screening discussion sessions led by science experts from museums and research institutes. We're also celebrating our 101st birthday with a screening of HUGO, which will include an introduction from an authentic Commissionaire from the Cinema Museum.
Meanwhile secondary school and FE College audiences can get the inside story on CONTAGION with an introduction from a research biologist.
Our Cinema Education programme aims to broaden children’s and young people’s cultural awareness, literacy skills and cineliteracy abilities. Below you will find the dates and details of all Science Week events. Ticket prices, booking procedures and contact details can also be found below; advance reservations are essential and you can book via phone or email now!

The story of how and why these mysterious creatures took to the air is more fantastical than any fiction. Sir David Attenborough sets out to uncover the truth about the enigmatic pterosaurs, whose wingspan of up to 40 feet was equal to that of a jet plane. FLYING MONSTERS 3D is a groundbreaking film that uses cutting-edge 3D technology and CGI to bring the story of these giant flying monsters and their prehistoric world to life.

In a world where one touch equals transmission, this lethal virus begins spreading like wildfire, consuming lives and crippling societies at a terrifying rate.
